An interactive highlight at the trade fair for M+M: a personalised memory game for my job OWL 2026
For our client M+M, we had the opportunity to develop an interactive trade fair highlight that not only attracted attention at my job OWL 2026 but also sparked numerous conversations with potential apprentices: a personalised steam turbine memory game in the form of a digital mini-game. The idea came about during preparations for M+M’s first appearance at a careers fair. The aim was to introduce young people to the world of steam turbines in a modern and playful way, without resorting to traditional trade fair giveaways or crowd-pullers.
Instead, the aim was to create an interactive element that:
- immediately arouses curiosity,
- is intuitive to use,
- breaks down barriers
- and at the same time provides genuine insights into the working world at M+M.
At career fairs in particular, visitors are often pressed for time and confronted with many impressions at once. It therefore quickly became clear that the experience had to be simple, easy to understand and visually appealing. At the same time, it should evoke positive emotions and leave a lasting impression.
A memory game as an ice-breaker
Together with M+M, we developed a personalised memory game centred on the world of steam turbines. Through a variety of images, components and materials, visitors were given a playful introduction to the company’s manufacturing processes, technology and day-to-day operations.
Our focus was not only on design and functionality, but above all on the impact the game would have on the exhibition floor. The game was intended to:
- attract attention from a distance,
- actively draw visitors to the stand,
- encourage participation in a straightforward way
- and serve as a natural conversation starter.
It was also particularly important to ensure flawless touch operation on the information kiosk, stable performance during continuous operation, and a design that reflected M+M’s clear corporate identity.
From concept to finished mini-game
Initially, the idea involved several interactive sections containing information about the team, apprenticeships and the company. True to the motto “less is more”, however, we then focused on a single, strong interactive element – the memory game.
For the development, we took charge of the game’s concept and structure, the creation of initial mock-ups and wireframes, the UX/UI planning, the complete layout and design in the M+M style, as well as the technical implementation and optimisation of the user guidance.
Throughout the project, we maintained close communication with the client to continuously refine usability, speed and the user experience. Even minor details, such as a hidden ‘Back’ button for more intuitive navigation, emerged directly from this collaborative development process.

Rapid implementation despite a tight deadline
The entire project was completed within a matter of weeks – from the initial concept to the final playable version at the trade fair. Despite the tight deadline, the collaboration was extremely straightforward, flexible and solution-oriented. We also actively supported M+M in selecting the right digital medium by proposing various solutions. The final decision to use an information kiosk proved to be the ideal solution for the interactive touch experience at the trade fair.
A successful trade fair appearance with real added value
The result: a modern mini-game in keeping with the brand, which piqued visitors’ curiosity, encouraged them to join in, and at the same time sparked many valuable conversations.
We were particularly pleased with the positive feedback from M+M: the game was extremely well received at the my job-OWl, impressing with its intuitive controls, modern design and robust technical implementation – and quickly became a real eye-catcher at the stand.
For us, the project demonstrates once again how interactive digital solutions in stand design can help bring brands to life and encourage people to engage with one another in a modern way.
